ok i know there are a a lot of bands doing this kind of thing, this just happens to be the one that I got into. But this album is fun, I think “soft like sugar” was my fav. Well put together goth/ dance punk with lyrics that have vague bdsm undertones but are also very general

This is from ‘93 but sounds like what guitar bands are trying to do (should be doing?) this year. Considered shoegaze but that’s up for debate, it almost sounds like Deftones covering U2 at times. I guess the lyrics are all kind of tongue in cheek about being obsessed with baddies, horny lyrics sang in a horny way. The songs are all pretty similar but distinct enough for you to tell them apart once you listen to it 15 times in a row as I have (and you should). Never heard of these lads til their stuff got reissued recently. The singer was killed by police in 2017 goddamn.

I don’t know much about this album, I found it somewhere and clicked on it cuz the artwork kinda looked like my band’s single artwork. I usually have too short of an attention span for ambient music, but this drew me in! There are a few songs with random vocal parts that really hit. I guess this is from 2004 so like lost in translation-coded if that makes sense. The song titles also slap and are maybe 75% of why I like this.

Been thinking a lot about “indietronica” as a genre, mostly because the name is hilarious, but also because I’ve been trying to think of examples of rock/guitar music with synths that aren’t 80’s inspired. This is exactly that, this album slaps front to back. They move between driving guitar stuff and twinkly synth stuff so seamlessly. “STROBOLIGHTS” and “I” both sound like they could have came out this year. Also recommend the youtube vid of their live set in 2005. Also great band name, I hope to drive a supercar someday 💭
