Nadiya is pronounced NAH-dee-yuh, but my grandmother had an accent and when she said my name it sounded like Nudja, and my little sister calls me Nudge. My little brother calls me Ya, or Yaya, because my name and my sister’s name both end in yah sounds, and when he was a baby we were the Yahs, and it stuck.
My family uses a lot of pet names, so variants of these get used: Nudjular, Nad, the Nadster (this only by my dad), the Nudjular Child (this is my dad again, it sounds like a ‘90s rapper in a way I like), and green bean.
My siblings also have lots; my sister is Bear, Lydibear, Bearbear, or the Lydster and my brother is Wy Guy, Wyatt-bo-byatt, sweetest pea greenest bean (all together, in a singsong), or Loveybug
