I’ve always been comfortable being by myself places, but it feels especially important during these periods to remind yourself just because you don’t have someone to go with doesn’t mean you shouldnt go see that movie, go to that gallery opening, eat at that restaurant, etc. Even if you don’t have something on the calendar maybe make an excuse to do something just to prove it to yourself!

This may be easy for some people but is something I had always struggled with. And it turns out the more I exercise that part of myself, the more I'm loving it. Whether it's the grocery store, a solo lunch date or shopping, I'm going to force myself to go out of my comfort zone and do it alone.

Even if it doesn’t sound like the most exciting plan ever! I think it’s so easy to get stuck in hermit mode if you enjoy your own company. Also it’s nice to be invited to things and the more you say yes the more people will think of you when they’re looking for someone to invite

I have a very strong desire for control over every aspect of my life and I’ve never been able to roll with things. Lately I’m trying to let go of this so I can participate in my ‘friendships’, which I have really been neglecting in recent years. Today a friend texted and asked me to go to the farmers market with her. At first I felt scared (lol) and inclined to ignore the message but I decided instead I would agree to go, and within 5 minutes I was in her car with her. It was a total blur and I was anxious out of my mind but I felt very grateful to spend time with someone I love. I’m terrible at conversing but even just to stand beside her was nice. We hugged before parting ways. I am glad that I did this.
