Some horror-y, some thriller-y, some ive recโ€™d elsewhere on here: -the wasp factory, iain banks (!!) -fever dream, Samanta schweblin (!!) -Iโ€™m thinking of ending things, Iain reed -out, natsuo kirino -the faces, tove ditlevsen -Eileen, otessa moshfegh -we have always lived in the castle, Shirley jackson None are too gory but i did find out and the wasp factory to be more disturbing personally. theyre manga so not traditional novels, but I read through both Tomie and Uzumaki by junji ito a couple years back, and theyโ€™re deliciously creepy, scary, a little gross.

and itโ€™s just as good as they say. incredibly resonant dystopian horror. iโ€™d also recommend The Salt Grows Heavy for a quick read. medieval fantasy body horror but there is also a sweet sort of love story

This was genuinely one of the most unsettling and uncomfortable books Iโ€™ve ever read. It was absolutely bizarre in the best way and is among my favorites because of how shocking, dream-like, and strange it is.

you don't even have to be a murakami fan for this one. such a poignant, quiet, overpoweringly beautiful movie that i think about often.
