for almost 3 straight years in high school I wore the same pair of black and white checkerboard vans. I wore holes in the tops from walking around. They were so comfortable and easy to slip on in the mornings when I was half awake. I even painted flowers all over them! They were replaced by Birkenstock slides that I still wear to this day. Its been roughly 5 years since I graduated high school. They look super rough, but they haven’t fallen apart!
