This is going to be rambly because I don't have the architectual terminology, but I'm a fan of homes that combine inside and outside. Open windows, covered patios. There are probably better examples of this style, but this scandi one in Seattle that got an NYT write-up is a good example. It's a little too modern for my taste, but this photo really captures the mood I'm going for.
I've become more and more intrigued by handmade homes. The Craftsman Builder is an amazing book studying these kind of houses in the West.
Quincy Jones' home with its capacious living room and massive window/indoor trees has always spoken to me.
Generally I'm happy with lots of wood grain in the interior and I love a low and long midcentury ranch, especially if it's tucked in some ferns.
