idk if it’s the weirdest but there are many objectively uncomfortable scenes and it’s not a sweet romcom or fun PG flick etc… but it’s def a comfort film for me! i think it’s the underlying self empowerment themes? (plus the nostalgia; i loved it as a teenager)

penance by eliza clark: probably my favorite book!!! a fictional true crime novel about 3 teenage girls who killed one of their classmates
salt slow by julia armfield: a bunch of short stories that are entirely this!!!

Feels like the type of movie this crowd would be into if you haven’t seen it already. Indie. Has Chloë Sevigny AND Natasha Lyonne, Club kids, and murder. Based on a true story but it’s a wild ride twisting and turning through the 80s and 90s queer nightlife scene and the horrors of the day.
