by Matisse. I saw this one in person when I went to London for the first time and was absolutely gobsmacked. I don't think I'll ever forget the rush of warmth I felt seeing this piece. I went back to the Tate Modern like three times in as many weeks to see it again and again and again.

I first came across this piece when they had an entire exhibit around it at the MOMA in I think 2022 (?) The most fascinating element of this painting is that it used to be entirely in color and Matisse went over it with red. That’s why you can see some color peaking out. I think that is super cool. I was so enthralled with it that I decided to get a small post card of it. I keep it on my night stand, next to my bed.

I feel like as you get older, friendships require a lot more effort and intention - you have to commit to wanting to be someone’s friend because everyone else is also an adult with so much going on in their lives! so people can seems a bit hostile and unwilling to open themselves up, but I would say the best way to make new friends is being the one to risk it first. You might be surprised as to how many people are willing to also open up once they know they’re not going to be emotionally dismissed!

The atmospheric mystery hooks you right off the top and the worldbuilding is just *Chef's Kiss* - magical, eerie and slightly terrifying - a deceptively short read which is a perfect cure for a slump!
