The whole movie is a vibe, as the kids (still?) say, but every time I watch it (lost count but it's in the double digits by now) I'm especially floored by Shelley Duvall's perfect performance as style icon Millie Lammoreaux, who transforms from an obliviously overconfident working gal to the bewildered focus of roommate Sissy Spacek's obsessive attention as the two begin to swap identities to ... someone else in the film's final enigmatic five minutes. Surely the best film by Robert Altman, who said the story came to him in a dream.

just Girls being Girls. Young Brad is hot but let’s not detract from Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon cruising across the desert in a T-Bird in the platonic ideal of love. An American Symposium. Divine Eros. Ridley Scott makes it look beautiful.
