Was Hedi Slimane’s residence in NYC and is a case study for Saint Laurent’s design language for their stores while he was at the helm from 2012-2016, a design language they still cling onto today even with Vaccarello running it. It might not be the most relevant to what I’m into now (gimme a mid century modern midwest home or a california craftsman please) but I’m fascinated with it as a large scale project + absolute commitment to have his stores be reflective of his living space.

Currently I am obsessed with both of these vintage accounts. From what I’ve gathered, @maj_kiosk seems to be an NYC ex-pat living in Rome, scouring thrift stores and flea markets throughout Italy. Honestly a dream scenario to me, and I’m sold on that fantasy before I even see the clothes that she posts. But! Let me tell you about the clothes! She finds the most beautiful 1990s/early 2000s Prada-Jil Sander-Gaultier style vintage clothing, as well as vintage deadstock Italian swim & lingerie. This is the Y2K that you won’t be finding on Depop. @imevintage, another favorite, travels through the Midwest and finds the most sensual vintage furniture pieces. Think of the home in Call Me By Your Name, but then also what I would imagine the offices of Giorgio Armani looked like in the eighties. There are few things she posts that I couldn’t imagine in my home.

I loved the exhibition which presented Madame Grès and Azzedine Alaïa's pieces in conversation. This bit of the exhibition text struck a note: "When you find something that is personal and unique," said Madame Gres, "you must make the fullest possible use of it, pursuing its realisation wichout stopping until the end." Alaia echoed her words years later: "When an idea comes into your mind, you must capture it with a lasso and circle around it relentlessly." I liked how they saw couture as sculpture and I wondered if I should experiment with the sewing machine next. Something I am already considering. The place itself was small but lovely, with one of the most beautifu, cosy and quiet terrasses I have seen in a while, and well populated only by fashionable folks. Something similar to something I should open in Karachi, with artist studios upstairs perhaps. Grès' photographs of her dresses worn also touched me. I wonder how much of capturing imagination is image creation, and if this is a sign I should start experimenting with film now that I have an array of lenses from M. Chacha. Grès' story was also remarkable to me because of her true love for creation and art, and how she just opened a storefront and did not follow fashion week calenders. I wonder if I should too, just buy a storefront here and start my own thing, like Nazish and I were discussing on Saturday evening.

An exhibition of art and home objects curated by Alexander May who has gathered some of what I would consider the most exciting artists and designers together to occupy a space that will inspire you and make you want to spend all of your money.

florinegrassenhopper riotgrrrl brendanooooo slowdazzle buck_mcgraw and indianjones — we did it. Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
