genndy tartakovsky is the genius behind dexter's lab and samurai jack who also helped out on powerpuff girls. a while back he did this cartoon for adult swim which centers on a primitive human in a fantasy world who allies with a dinosaur. it gets very bloody and violent but the main point for me was the way the story is communicated without a single line of dialogue. amazing stuff.

I never could have imagined the emotional intensity of a wordless animation about a caveman and a dinosaur. After both experience devastating losses, they become unlikely travel partners while attempting to survive one brutal encounter after another. Stunning visuals and a deeply moving progression that grips both the gut and heart.

Ok first off i did google "primal" bc i can never remember how to spell his name. on my like 4th rewatch of season 1/1st full series rewatch. This is that shit dude. Absolutely brutal in all ways. Violent, atmospheric, terrifying, adventerous, beautiful, love full, wow. If you like animation, short list this and start it tonight. If you dont like animation, step out of your comfort zone and give it a try. Solidly one of the best western animations.

UNBELIEVABLE. just finished watching this after the excellent film Quest For Fire and this is such an instant all time fave. aside from being metal as fuck in every possible version of that description it also delves into communication/companionship/collaboration/medical practice/trickery before language… and then the second season delves into the dawn of language and REALLY lights up… MUST WATCH for any fans of animation.

i fucking LOVE mailing lists. you get vip information from the stuff you really care about, in a non-intrusive format, no ads, no scrolling, no bullshit. artists, labels, venues, educational centers, galleries, film centers, art collectives, clothing brands. anything you want to support/attend/take part of probably has a mailing list, i just look at my "promotions" tab in gmail once a day to glance over anything that could be interesting. PRO TIP: unsubscribe from all of the things you don't care about, e.g. the uniqlo newsletter from that one time you bought some heattech undergarments and sold your soul (used your email) for a 10% discount.
