I used to live on a very small island. Not the smallest by any means - about 10 square miles and 60,000 people. About the size of a small town, except when that small town is separated by an ocean from anywhere bigger it can feel very isolating.
I've moved to the Mainland UK since then, and on top of having a wider group of friends out here, the freedom to be able to just jump on a train (rather than having to pay for a flight) any time I want to do something more exciting than go to a pub is such a breath of fresh air. Since moving here I've gotten to see some of my favourite artists (next week I get to see a really small band I thought I would NEVER get the chance to see!!!!) and it's just so nice to feel more free! I'm not very good at Having A Life, but I'm getting better 🥰

Really helped me see my hometown through fresh new eyes, and appreciate things about it I took for granted!
It also made me feel like I could bring all of me that has developed since I left the city back into it instead of purely regressing into my teenage self🥳

I went to bars by myself just to read and listen to the music. I learned recently that’s the freedom you gain when you go places alone.
I spend so much of my life unintentionally waiting for permission to do things. Waiting on someone else to want to do things with me. It’s sort of weird being an adult and being allowed to just go to another country because you feel like it. It’s a freedom that I’ve never been brave enough to explore before.
I wonder if this experience was a as weird and wonderful for anyone else as it was for me.

Four hour coach trip up to a city ive never stayed in before to see my favourite band (who have two songs on spotify) in the tiny upstairs of a tiny bar and I bothered to make myself look nice and I am EXCITED and SO THRILLED I have needed a win so bad Ive loved this band for five years I didnt think I'd get to see them live 😭😭😭 theyre from the opposite side of the world but theyre based closer now!!!!!!!
