The underbelly of the sydney opera house

That dazzling, show-offy, alpha thrust of the outer shells, yeah yeah. Seen it all before. But the lighting underneath … in the undercroft where the cars drive through … where the lone concertgoer slumps, dreams, sleeps, waits … Now that is astonishing. Concrete made light. Intersected by the lone human - so alone - amid the busy, buzzy throng of us. Can you see him? So many astonishments.

Pool ball kinetic sculpture at port authority bus terminal

Near the subway entrance - it has a lift that brings the balls to the top and then they go on different tracks. they do jumps, loopdy loops, roll over a xylophone (my favorite), hit chimes (ding ding dong dong), big spiral. fun to watch

the empire state building

i worked here for a few years and often got emotional just entering it (dramatic i know!!), it is just such a marvel, truly emblematic of the city/iconic, visiting the top was always such an adventure, also my fav part was that there are these murals throughout the lobby (mainly the ceiling but also the reception desk wall and in the elevators) that feature gears in celestial formations it is extremely steampunk!!!!
