i love to get drunk and rant about how pop music is the universal magnet, how storytelling through music saves lives, how the teens need music more than anything, how escapism is a powerful and necessary tool at times, how being able to see yourself in someone elseās narrative can be wildly healing, how dancing your heart out at a show can literally cure depression, how music creates community and itās beautiful, how an arena of girls and their moms and their friends can all sing the same words together in unison and itās one of the closest things we have to real magic in this life. i love pop music. also rock. also rnb. also all of it. i love music so much

literally could not be more excited for her and brat (shouldāve been aoty) but itās always bittersweet when an artist you love blows up like that and their very intense impact on one group of ppl is stood up next to new fans/the general publicās opinion. itās exciting but itās sort of awkward. i dont think we can explain what music means to us.

good god if you canāt hear the last ten years of pop music blossoming so perfectly by her will. my ipod hated to see me coming for the digital drop. i do think the pop auteur thing continues to be such a wonderful look on her - she made the most perfect collection of contemporary pop music videos ever and now everything feels comparatively postmodern. and of course thereās lemonade... which i know fewer of you have watched than iād care to admit. please go do that! itās a totally different form, excellent in a distinct and singular way. alas. here lie the hits! a whole other language and one she breathes so effortlessly. do you have this in your itunes library? do you have history with this record?

there is nothing better than a solo date to see a band you love. no shouting over the crowd to your date, freedom to dance as crazy as you want, peak people-watching. get as drunk as you want, who cares. talk to a stranger or donāt. tip the bartender and merch person, befriend the bouncer. you are the main character when you are on an adventure with yourself. who knows you better than youā¦? music is so euphoric and transformative, i will always cherish my solo concerts

how has no one said this one yet? chappell is winning music right now and this tiny desk certainly was part of that. between the stripped down live arrangements, matching pink band outfits, comedic personality in between songs, the wig (insane), and her VOICEā¦.truly this performance is beyond i could watch it a million times
