A term that to me, was a sign of collective support that also highlighted its state of lightheartedness, has become an unbearable method of hyper-vigilance to evaluate the way women navigate their own relationships, making sure they follow a rigorous procedure established by the internet without allowing space for their own autonomy.
I saw a tweet that said:
"Not a girl's girl-Omg grow up and call her a bitch". Can't believe "bitch" has come to a point where the term strikes as the more nuanced, adult version of Girl's Girl because of how flippant and unserious the phrase is. To say that the tweet above spoke to me, is an understatement.
