I went to Costa Rica on a solo trip a few years ago and stayed near Corcovado national park. Took a rainforest walk and our guide pointed out these giant leaves that looked as if they had been perforated and folded on a very specific line. It was the work of these bats, which bite two diagonal cuts in the shape of a V, causing the sides to fold down and form a tent. And then they just chill in there, like a makeshift cave.

I used to hate them, and maybe you hate them now, which is totally understandable. It’s in our evolution to fear that shape—a dark spot with radiating lines. It’s like a symbol of danger. But they are so fascinating and almost always harmless. Don’t go pick them up willy nilly or anything, but observe and be nice to them. I saw this one on a camping trip making a web in the middle of the night, across like a three foot span. They are craftsmen and incredible weavers. They’re super chill beings.

a study issued last month found that dancing is the most effective way of treating and mitigating depression. Walking, therapy, and yoga also outpaced SSRIs. and if you're saying 'oh this was probably funded by Big Dance', there's no evidence of that and if you're saying 'that's just what a Big Dance shill would say', well honey you're right
