If youve ever been curious about the culture and science around drugs, Vice had a series called Hamiltonās Pharmacopia. Some episodes/ specials are available on YT.
Premise: Documentary Series- Hamilton Morris is a chemist with a proclivity for studying the effects of different substances and how they work. Each episode is interesting he interviews all sorts of ppl from all walks of life. For instance: interviews a visual artist seemingly addicted to DMT, Native Americans who welcomed him to experience a guided ritual, scientists who did jail time for synthseizing research chemicalsā¦ and so so so many more. Iām not super into the chemistry aspect, but a significant aspect of his show is based in the sociological and psychological affects of illicit substance.

Back when Vice was good, Hamilton Morris introduced himself and his gonzo scientific research to the world. The ONLY Patreon I subscribe to. The first season is free on YouTube, I think the others were on Hulu last I checked.

you may know Hamilton Morris from his VICE show back in the day, but nowadays heās a working chemist with a focus on psychedelic research, who has a podcast wherein he interviews drug chemists/people who have interesting stories to tell about pharmacology and chemistry. Hamilton is incredibly intelligent and I find the interviews fascinating even if the chemistry discussion is too advanced for me.
my favorite episodes are āPaying The Price For a Free Chemistry Educationā wherein he interviews a clandestine chemist who was effectively enslaved by associates of Sammy the Bull Gravano to synthesize large quantities of MDA for them to sell. Another great one is āWhat Happened to the Kentucky Ibogaine Program?ā where he interviews the lawyer who spearheaded the program in Kentucky to use the psychedelic Ibogaine as a treatment for opioid use disorder. If you have any interest in pharmacology, chemistry, or the sociology of drugs, I think youād find it fascinating.

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining peopleās attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends -
fake words that people now use IRL (āunaliveā), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, āalpha maleā podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche thingsā¦ the list goes on
