Start a newsletter for your niche interest

I love New Zealand music and I want to support young, new and emerging artists in a way that gives them something to share and builds some hype about the cool shit that they do. So I started a substack and have posted my first gig review! The artist appreciated it and now it’s been read by over 40 people, and I have 20 random subscribers who I don’t know… Feels pretty good to hype others up in this way. so yea - start a newsletter about your niche interest, you might be surprised how many people think that’s pretty neat and worth reading (if you wanna read some local music and gig reviews, my substack is binjuicereviews)

Been on a small hiatus while I’ve been touring and stuff, but my substack is generally personal essays, occasional poetry, and around the release of the record has extra lore around the songs and writing processes as well as demos and stuff from the recording process!

Glenn branca

This guy I sort of half-know really likes Glenn Branca so I listened to a few of his songs. He’s really great. Lots of huge, almost uncomfortable, waves of sound, but he never gets stuck in one particular style. I like “You Got Me,” it has this punchy, sort of electronic beat to it. Songs ’77 - ’79 is a great album to check out.
