i didn’t quite appreciate this song as much as i do now until seeing it performed as the closer to his live show… such a great encapsulation of the feeling of years of life under very late capitalism weighing on you how hard can you go, and for how long can you sustain it? when the force that fights back doesn’t ever relax it’s so relentless, oh how long can you defend against a cheat code? at a furious pace, with a smile on your face

jeff does have some lyrics that TEND towards the depressing… but he also writes with a good amount of hope on some tracks. most importantly, i think the ska punk version of this album embraces a playfulness and an energy that is a lot of fun. (answering this was hard bc i realized my taste in music is also overwhelmingly depressing)

Composing a short film about childhood at the moment and I’ve been leaning heavily on this Casio PT-1 keyboard I picked up at a flea market in Barcelona. They were manufactured starting in 1985 as a simpler alternative to Casio’s LV-1, hailed to be the first commercially available synth. Anyway love this sound it’s so tactile without feeling too boxy, I’ve really enjoyed playing it through my Tascam 414 as a preamp.

I recently plugged in this Mythical Overdrive, one of my favorite pedals, and heard nothing but a sharp hiss. These Mythical Overdrives are all made by hand and built by their creator, he currently doesn’t offer a repair service. From what I understand these Klon style circuits are pretty simple but I opened the pedal and found an impressive array of transistors, resistors, and parts I can’t begin to understand. I want to become competent enough to repair these kinds of circuits that I rely on so heavily so I’m beginning a soldering and pedal repair journey. Beyond music, I think it’s important to understand the tools you use well enough to repair them. I’ll document it here, cheers PI.
