Do your homework, though, and make sure you actually will be able to put music on it! I wonder if buying a new MP3 player would be a better option. Or you could use an old phone if you have one laying around.
eventually i got an ipod touch when i was old enough but that little $10 mp3 was my LIFE. I learned how to navigate the internet/lime wire too young just b/c i wasnt trying to pay for anything. Occasionally I would buy CDs of my favorite albums and rip them <3
