Hyper modern production, with a lofi vocal approach. The dude is singing out of tune like 90 percent of the time…. But that’s what makes this work. It’s not the note that’s working here, it’s his nakedness and rawness in each track that grabs u by the guts and pulls u in. The standout track for me is “Alone”. What a wonderfully creative musician ☺️.

also would hate listening to this album if john never got clean. but hearing this and his 2004 release Shadows Collide With People back to back is an interesting experience. he has overcome so much personally/professionally. very cool to witness sonically

oh boy is this a good one. been on repeat for the last little bit it makes me feel so warm and cozy inside 😊🌟🫎 idk what mic or what effect or whatever he’s using for his voice but golly gee… so crisp so nice. i can feel every instrument deep in my bonesssss and his melodies are probably my favourite ever. yeah. it’s awesome. i will admit that last track being 20 minutes long catches me off guard every time but i listened to it all the way through one time and it‘s magical 🦟 however i don’t think there’s enough adderall in the world that could get me to listen to it in its entirety again

I don't know if this is a call for help, but I've been exclusively listening to one album for almost two months now. This masterpiece dropped in March, and I've clocked in about 300 listens, but who's counting? We are. Bonus rec, the boys and I have linked our Spotify accounts to last.fm to keep track of every song we listen to.Giveon has such a unique, well rounded, really deep voice. This is one of those albums where every song hits for me. Never thought I'd say this, but I think he may have even knocked Daniel Caesar off of my R&B artist throne.

This is my first post, so i’m gonna keep it short and sweet: Distinct, electronic music is my jam rn. And mr. stone has my calling card. Slowed, warped samples covered in sheets of effects and synths rising and fallin…. One track even sound like a Philip Glass+Kraftwerk combo. The album touches on such a specific nostalgia, or longing feeling. It’s hard to describe. The title “Mom” fits perfect for the feeling… Childlike, yet forlorn. Lovely from beginning to end. (His newer album Stolen Car is also a fun listen if you enjoy this.)
