I buy these whenever I come across them. One time, I googled the bachelor of the month from a May 1980 issue of Cosmo, just to see what he was up to now. He was a high end art dealer who had since been arrested, locked up for fraud, released, and became a best selling author from writing a book about the experience. The July 1980 bach of the month was Epstein. Every other page is a cigarette ad. All nail polish is red. It's chaos.

you will get all the inspiration you ever need out of archival magazines. My favorite eras are the 60s-90s because the ads slap stylistically even though they’re sometimes entirely misogynistic. My favorite old magazines are playboy, naturally, architectural digest, and this other home mag called apartment life. You can buy a stack of like 10 on eBay for $20 or so and it’s totally worth it.
