Online shopping is great for things I can’t always find in person. ssense and DSM and Mr Porter are usually where I find myself going. In terms of buying vintage, eBay and Poshmark are great as long as you know your dimensions. I’ve sort of stopped using Grailed entirely as of lately, everything is priced so wrong. Nothing can replace shopping in person though. Some shops have an insane presence that you can only experience by being there. DSM is an experience. Both Wythe and Drakes NY locations transport you to a western world & sartorial haven. I really love the expertise of the staff at 3Sixteen and SelfEdge and Blue Blue in Green when it comes to denim; they’re gods of their industry. And then it’s just fun to talk shop with the Noah staff. You don’t get that experience online. It’s wonderful to be so close to all these shops. Both work together, I think. But if you aren’t in a location where you can visit these places, then you sort of have to default to online.

All of my recent favorite items of clothing have been purchased in-person at a retail store. They remind me of when, where, and who I was at the time of making the purchase. Shoutout to Stag Provisions in Austin, Field Theory in St. Louis and Marshall Goods in Chapel Hill.

UNSURE IF I AM ALLOWED TO LINK THINGS I'VE WRITTEN SOMEONE CLARIFY FOR ME PLEASE. 13 minute write-up linked about, but if you're a guy you should be interested in what is happening at Madewell Men's department under the helm of Aaron Levine. The mix of intentionally thought out design + accessibility make for a great choice for anyone looking to wade into the menswear pool. There used to be a huge wall in the #menswear world that kept you on the outside if you couldn’t afford a certain brand or if it was so limited that you’d have to resort to resell prices — that’s no longer the case here. Anyone can enter into the cult thanks to the products Aaron & company are putting out. Malls may be dying, but Madewell Men's sure does make a case for getting in your car and taking a drive. (And if you're a girl dating a guy who needs help getting dressed, you can now trick him into spending time with you at Madewell: a win-win for all.) Follow-up question: Would a revival of mall brands led by industry pros make you more willing to head back to malls as opposed to just shop online?

This place rules. I got my favorite shirt there (blue striped Armani Jeans button up i’m wearing in the pic above) I tell anyone who needs something formal but with some spirit/attitude, go browse the racks at Ebreo. Perfect for well priced suits with a cool selection of shirting, outerwear and shoes too. It’s in Williamsburg on Grand St. sandwiched between Dolls Kill and Supreme (lol) and it is run by Julian Colucci. He is one of the most natural and gifted hosts and shopkeepers I know and he is also a licensed and practicing therapist. He specializes in Italian menswear and sources from all over the place. The last couple times I ran into him there, he was coming back from Florida or Italy. I think he’s also got an espresso machine rocking in the back. So much more I could say about this place, but just go over there if you’re in New York!

florinegrassenhopper riotgrrrl brendanooooo slowdazzle buck_mcgraw and indianjones — we did it. Not only did we successfully meet for drinks, but we also schemed the hostile takeover of this app from tyler tonight. In all seriousness — weird that an app I downloaded in April would make genuinely want to drive back into Brooklyn during end of day traffic for a happy hour. Great app filled with great people.

I feel like there’s a special connectivity on this app that I haven’t felt in a long time, maybe since early 2010’s tumblr. The fact that you can’t promote yourself like IG is wonderful. The fact that there isn’t mass video content like Tik Tok is great. It’s not this monetized / paid sponsorship app. People are here because they want to be a part of something with nothing to gain besides friendship. Seeing the URL -> IRL meetups warms my heart so much (waiting for an NYC or Brooklyn meetup). Thanks for your participation on this niche little app. I smile reading all the recs and all the comments and all the asks. Hope we’ll all be here for a long time.

I think a life rule for me is to surround myself with people who know more / are smarter / are cooler than me and just absorb their aura by listening / observing them. It’s made me the incredibly smart / cool person you all know and love. I just never thought I’d feel the same way about URL friends. I’m constantly listening to the songs I see posted here, reading the articles, subbing to newsletters, and googling topics that get tossed onto the feed. It’s nice to know you can become a more rounded person by just absorbing what your mutuals post on here. I’m going to sit on my couch, have a cocktail and digest my lovely feed. Happy Sunday!
