Rec'd on 🎵 Any bands similar to real estate?

The album Suburban Light might be less upbeat, but I think they were a precursor to Real Estate. The band Beach Fossils also have a related sound, and I bet they are Real Estate fans. I’d also say early Mac Demarco, the albums II and Salad Days. Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s II as well.

Some Dream Pop classics

I'm actually a huge fan of Beach House. I ritualistically listen to them, alongside Melody's Echo Chamber, Slowdive, and newer music in the genre that I never heard before.

Orchid pretentious post-hardcore screamo from amherst, mass. in the early 2000s. a lot of their songs are about critical theory. Maher Shalal Hash Baz Japanese nativist PSF records, not Really a band just this guy tori Kudo and whoever he has around him. kind of sounds like the velvet underground remixed by a kid playing an accordion. The Cannanes Melbourne Indy pop from that sweet spot between the late 80s early 90s. Best tracks use a drum machine, there are some great living room live recordings on YouTube.
