Kind of gives me the same feeling I got when I heard death grips for the first time and understood it. I love the fusion of genres here. This subgenre and style of music is slowly taking over everything I listen to, and I think it’s kind of blanketing everything in the brooklyn music scene. Maybe is just me. We’re in like the 4th? Revival of electroclash in the history of music, and certainly not the last. People can stay mad, but I love it.

Difficult though it may be for the old vanguard to accept, I believe most if not all vital innovation in the jam band format is coming from the industrial electronic musical sector. Autechre are a great example of one such band who - late in their careers - have released dozens of hours of improvisatory and fresh takes on old material performed live and categorized by the year and city in which the performances took place. These recordings are then - of course - fawned over and endlessly analyzed by obsessive devotees and electro-hippie freaks who collect, distribute, and bootleg them along with whatever other unreleased or previously unknown material they can independently gather. It is, as ever, a brave new world, and change is confusing, but if you listen with an open mind you’ll surely find yourself entranced by Autechre’s Psycho-Electronic Experimentations …. Peace and Love✌️

idk what they’re putting in these songs, but it’s basically crack to me. super genre bending techno shit I can’t even tell where they’re from. Their instagram says 3 different countries. no way they don’t absolutely explode soon.

The new synthwave stuff has really gripped me lately. I listen to The Midnight & Dreamkid a bit more than Gunship, but it was finding them a couple of years ago that, pun intended, launched me down this path. I've enjoyed chiptune and other odd non-dance (you can still dance if you wanna, I won't judge) electronica for decades now. But this throwback / modern take on early 80s music gets me.
