my absolute favorite spot is a little neighborhood joint called Little Tijuana. incredible vibes, the best margarita i’ve ever had, and they serve waffle fries with french onion dip that i go fucking nuts for. honorable mentions: quang has the best pho, and barbette is a lovely little french bistro, the perfect date spot.

Coffee: Desnudo & Try Hard in east Austin, but i’m more of a regular at Genuine Joe in north central cuz it has the most wholesome weird Austin vibes BBQ: not a huge bbq eater but had Micklethwaite recently & was v impressed. Terry Black’s is my other go-to when i get my biannual craving Thrifting: Uptown Cheapskate is usually the best bet for clothes. Recycled Reads is a shop where the library diverts its retired books from the landfill - so many unique finds! a couple doors down on the same strip is the dustiest little antique store you’ve ever seen selling everything from vintage handkerchiefs & Disney pins to Hot Wheels & DnD dice. Thai: P Thai’s Kao Man Gai & Noodles on Airport (just opened this month) tastes exactly like the chicken rice shop i grew up with down the street in northern Thailand. Dee Dee food truck also serves fantastic northern Thai street food in south Austin

my dad died when i was young. today is his birthday, he would’ve been 64. this day usually passes as normal, but this year i’m feeling particularly sad, and i am trying to feel those feelings fully instead of numbing them

my everyday bag is a large baggu crescent bag, and it is the love of my life. i have a variety of pins on display that say, “help the police-beat yourself up!”, “mean lesbian”, and “the moral panic is about ME!!!” i keep my wallet and coin-purse in the one little inside-pocket, along with lip balm/gloss, airpods AND wired earbuds, pencils/pens, lighters, my trusty bus pass, and an unlimited use kiss coupon from my partner. in the main part of the bag i have a smaller bag full of stimming toys and communication cards (and gum and more lip gloss). i also have a taser, one reusable bag (just in case!), my journal (i’ve been trying to keep a commonplace book), my kobo libra color, my vape, a few joints in a cute kitten cigarette case, and a pack of american spirits (the teal ones are superior). not pictured: owala water bottle and any given crochet project
