this movie makes me so emotional even though it’s partly a comedy. as someone who grew up with undiagnosed neurodivergence, the parallels between lars’ experiences and mine is very similar.
the part that makes me emotional is how everyone in the movie treats him. they are so kind and understanding, and allow him to grieve and cope in a way that is most comfortable for him. it’s a reminder that we are all worthy of love and patience, and we shouldn’t settle for any less. one day we will all find our small town that loves and accepts us for who we are.
