It’s literally fine if your kitchen smells like garlic or cumin or fish or curry or whatever.

I’m a very scent inclined person and my nose is strong, as a result every room has some kind of designated smell to it and it just makes sense to me. Here’s what’s in my rotation of scents for my new home Living room: any fresh or dank candle (right now it’s Citrush by Boy Smells and the pomelo note smacks the entire room) but I’m partial to the Kush candles too. Anything that smells like musk or lemons or grass is preferable Dining room and kitchen: ideally nothing or good food cooking but the hand soap has to be lemon verbena Bathroom: lavender and vanilla bedroom: palo santo or sandalwood

it sounds a little deranged but my mum cooks with a lot of garlic and tends to crush/mince by hand, so her hands/wrist area always smelled like a mix of garlic and the green tea fragrances that she wore. i stopped using a garlic mincer because the warm scent of garlic helped me miss my mum's cooking less 💔

This applies to popular works that are often recommended by others (for me: bell hooks’s work, Man’s Search for Meaning, Braiding Sweetgrass) but it also applies to the classics that people don’t necessarily recommend because they’re difficult— often assigned instead of recommended because they’re important— but their significance and perceived difficulty often overshadows the fact that yes, they’re actually really that fucking good. The works in this category that come to mind for me are Moby Dick and Le Samouraï. What are yours?

Der Himmel uber Berlin. Slow cinema. Magical Realism. The actors that are cast as angels are entirely believable as angels. A beautiful yearning romance with not only a woman, but the human experience. Nick Cave is there. A New Year’s film, to me.

surprised no one else has mentioned her! Florence Welch has the voice, looks, and passion of a pre-raphaelite siren luring you into the ocean to drown because that’s how much she loves you.
