This fascinating documentary made in 2012 tells the story behind Michael Viner’s Incredible Bongo Band recording the Album ‘Bongo Rock’ at Can-Base Studios (Later known as Mushroom Studios) in Vancouver, BC Canada! ‘Bongo Rock’ released in 1973, became kinda like the foundation of hip hop as DJs in the Bronx such as Kool Herc ended up sampling a song from it called ‘Apache’, in turn exposing it to Jay Z, Nas, Sugarhill Gang and many more.

Just stumbled across this French website that is a database of musical samples, it identified the soul sample in Apollo Brown & Ras Kass - Bon Voyage (Sam Taylor Jr. - Heaven On Their Minds) that I had been looking for and WhoSampled/Genius never had it

Genre: Highlife, Afrobeat From: Accra, Ghana LP: De Frank Professionals (1976) An absolute monster of a jam. This is easily in my top five favorite songs ever. Those drums! That organ tone! That little swinging guitar lick! This was compiled on ‘Afro-beat Airways: Ghana & Togo 1972-1978’ by the label Analog Africa. The self-titled record this came from, however, remains maddeningly out of print.
