saw The Substance last night and would recommend it. it definitely calls back to a number of body and gross out horror films but the climax of the movie owes a lot to Brian Yuznaโs Society. it pushes the boundaries of good taste in order to accentuate the grotesque character of the upper class. if youโre seeing The Substance, watch a palate cleanser (or maybe take a day or two) and then see Society. you wonโt regret it.
