it's really easy to be lazy and let something like a parsley leaf fall on the kitchen floor when I'm cooking and just ignore it. same goes for a tiny piece of foil if i'm opening some annoying package. but if you just take that spare millisecond to fucking crouch down and pick the damn thing up, you are just that much better for it. don't have to deal with it later, don't have to annoy your housemates or partner, and you're just being proactive about something even if very tiny. the cumulative effect has a really positive outcome and it gets easier as you go.

not a whole lot, but a lot of instances of small cleaning adds up to overall big cleaning and you’d be surprised at the relief you feel knowing at least one or two small things are taken care of

I also struggle with keeping things clean. A few things I practice - one thing that helped me was doing a teeny bit every day before it becomes a big chore. Like taking a water cup to the sink the next morning or putting dirty clothes in the hamper directly after shower Cultivating space that you take pride in helps a lot. I am urged to keep my space clean when I’ve really built a space that reflects my personality and I can feel safe in. Never let things run out, running out of toothpaste, body wash, shampoo can ruin one’s day. If you need help w folding your clothes you’re on your own. I’d rather fistfight a gorilla than fold

As a lover of PI.FYI/getting/giving unsolicited recommendations for all things, I recently started sending my google maps pins to people I see traveling to places I've marked a few things. What's better than getting a recco from somebody real and not some dumb watered down sponsored Time Out article about 'Top 5 most instagrammable places in Seoul' etc etc etc. Ew. Here's a list I made while working in London for a month. There is what I like to think a good range from obvious trendy wine bars down to things I stumbled past while ambling around. Plus I think that giving good travel recs gives good travel karma!

Inner Totality is one of the best DJs, so pro at cross genre spanning mixes that suit meditation and chilling to home dinners up to dancefloor boppin, but this country mix is so fresh. Dude has selector skills in all genres its wild. His new band ddwy is also really cool and fun

I really like reading the New Yorker and have done so for about a decade. I no longer live in New York but I still read the Tables For Two section excitedly first thing every week and try to get through the majority of the articles. However, there are sooooo many more in the backlogs and the iPhone app is actually quite optimized with previous published pieces so I like to sift through the internet to see what people recommend from the past, and also use their Sunday Archive emails to delve into old writings. It's cool to see people like J.D. Salinger or Truman Capote writing articles for them back in the day. One I recently loved was the original publishing of the Brokeback Mountain short story in the fiction section. As a Wyoming native I found the descriptions of the landscape and energy to be so richly written.
