i have always loved the style of those floor length coats from the 90s, so my first real purchase was a COS dark navy 100% wool coat, lined, belted etc. that stops a little over mid-calf(?), bought sometime around 2013-2014 on flash sale, back when I was working full-time. Don't have it with me rn because I'm in very tropical climes, but link for reference, maybe that's the right coat? Anyway it used to be really itchy but a few years now, it is the softest, warmest and lightest winter thing I own. It has also received mass compliments, so yeahhhh frankly the best investment ever.

On a crisp (quite cold) sunny morning in Cambridge, my friend Peyton and I stopped by a Sunday market with a variety of different vendors. I was sold this coat by a lovely lady selling dozens of vintage coats-- after having just mentioned to my friend that I missed my "Narnia Jacket," a deep purple fur jacket I had in the first grade. I tried it on and knew I had to buy it. It kept me warm through the chilly streets of London, even on nights out when I hadn't much under. Special mentions: The cleaner across the street from my flat in Islington that took the stains and of sulfur off it after a joyous trip to Reykjavik. For £10. Also, the cat card holder I got from that same market. His eyes are stained and baggy now, so I'm on the hunt for something new.

At least 50% wool but the higher the warmer. The best winter coats I have ever bought have been a long brown wool overcoat by Superdry Cult Studios and a double breasted belted black one by Weekday. You can wear literally anything with it because no one can really see and you can experiment with fun cuffs and collars underneath to really make a great outfit. Also wearing a suit under an overcoat is the most power dressing feeling ever. They are so chic and also practical.

* Bought mine from an antique mall in the mountains in New Mexico for $20 and she’s so elegant and unique. It’s lined with the most realistic synthetic fur I’ve ever seen and is so incredibly warm but not bulky. I linked princess coat listings on 1stDibs. * I also have a J Crew perfect winter parka for when I don’t care about having dignity, like if I’m walking my dog or going out into the snow/sleet because it’s not floor length like my other coat and it’s waxed cotton. apparently it’s been discontinued but you can still find them on eBay or Poshmark or whatever. And probably any of their other parkas are good… * would also suggest layering heat retaining undershirts and pants like Uniqlo heat tech or the ones from 32 degrees + fleece-lined tights…

it's totally cool to age and society still isn't equipped to deal with that.

Sometimes you try your best and everything seems to hit the fan no matter how much you try, so you take that raincheck and take yourself out for a day.

This is what I call it hahahah made by mums everywhere but the greased up version is sold along stalls in Mumbai. Two regular slices of white bread, buttered, and the middle filling is cream cheese with red onions, coriander/cilantro, tomatoes and some minced chillis. All veggies chopped mini cube size so they blend with the cheese. Toasted crispy.
