by shredddflanders. really cool production - reminded me of underscores, porter robinson, and 100 gecs. insanely cool how the songs flow into one another - especially from "Gross Men" to "Jim Carrey." That was a suuuper cool transition. also "Jim Carrey" probably my fav. very fun! wish the songs were a little longer though, the ideas have lots of potential that in my opinion could have been explored much further for each song. In that sense I feel like the album had the potential to be much more immersive experience. Even though its not a genre a often come back to, it was a fun listening experience! will definitely be looking forward to more by shred.

I think over time this album is getting more love deservedly so, and people are recognizing the gem it is, but when this came out, dare I say a lot of people were likely a little disappointed. Disappointed there was no huge single like an Electric Feel, Time To Pretend, Kids, etc. Thatβ€˜s not what this is though- it’s more of a concept album, a lush, thrilling, 43 minute soundscape paying no heed to commercial sensibilities. Siberian Breaks on the second half of the album is a masterpiece, a multi act, 12 minute journey- twisting and turning to a satisfying conclusion that shimmers and fades into the next track.

I remember spending spring break that year listening to this album front to back on repeat. the atmospheres and drum sequencing across this project is still insane, and as a dubstep kid this album had plenty of harder hitting moments. overall this album marked a point where my tastes were starting to broaden within electronic music, and the track Tabris (linked) especially still blows my mind today. love the progression of it

I'll start using this website to log albums that I have listened to - like letterboxd but for music! recommended to me by royallmonarch I listened to this yesterday, 16th September, and I recommended it to like 5 more people in my college today. It has grown on me so much. I had never heard of this duo, and i was just blown away. soooo cool! their instrumantation and vocals and ideas, all so fresh and lovely. for some reason i really connected to the song titles also lol. i dont have a proper analysis for this just yet, but i really really enjoyed listening to it and again thank you nick for the reccomendation! more album reviews(?) coming soon next one is Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie (listening to it as im writing this)
