iā€™m still in my evaluation phase of a handful of different journals and paper typesā€¦ in general, i think iā€™m a fan of most notebooks that have tomoe river paper, because it works so nicely with my fountain pens, but some specifics: - maruman mnemosyne spiral bound: i am using these in lined a4 or a5 format for my morning journals. good daily driver, bleeds a little if youā€™re overly aggressive. - apica premium CD: i am currently using one in memo size to jot down notes, ideas, and first drafts for a writing project iā€™m working on. i have a larger format that iā€™m planning to use for practicing drawing with fineliner pens, but i havenā€™t actually done that yet, so iā€™m not sure how well they go together. paper is SUPER silky and smooth, resistant to bleeding, but the smoothness makes it feels quite a bit different from most other kinds of paper. (ed. note: the above two were taken from Wirecutterā€™s article on the best notebooks and notepads) - travelerā€™s company: these are not really notebooks themselves, but sort of a system for customizing and evolving your own little custom notebook. you buy a leather cover, which comes with one notebook ā€œrefill,ā€ and then you typically will either buy more to stuff in all at once, or to replace your refills as they fill up. itā€™s a very neat little way to have a nice notebook with some flexible paper choices and cute accessories! these use Midori MD paper, which is very solid, but there are a lot of different varieties you can get, so itā€™s worth exploring. i would argue the neatest thing about this choice is its modularity, which lets you e.g. explore Etsy listings for custom refills and accessories!

moleskine: always reliable. they have a6, hardcover, elastic band, all page styles. a little pricey but ive never regretted. travelers company notebook: pricy but absolutely worth the investment. you can refill it, and have up to 3 booklets. i usually have a blank, a ā€œsketch paperā€ and either watercolor or blank ivory. they have lined, graph, calendar, etc as well. its not hard cover, but it has an elastic band kokuyo campus notebooks: not really ā€œartā€ notebooks, but my all time favorite for notes. they have lined, blank, grid, etc. also not hard cover ngl i also just go on amazon a lot for journals

i carry one everywhere i go, so if i have an idea, an observation, or just want to spontaneously journal out in the wildy, i write it down in the book! i enjoy writing with a nice pen vs typing on my phone and it's kind of therapeutic? it makes you feel more present with your thoughts since there are no notifications to distract you! also you get to practice your hand writing! the pocket notebooks i use are field notes (grid) and moleskine (blank) i also love writing with muji pens hehe

A while ago, I recommended ā€œHandwritten notes & diagramsā€œ, which I fully stand by, but in that rec I linked a cheap little field notes book, which Iā€™ve since graduated from. This MD notebook is the perfect solution to all handwriting endeavors. The spine is flat and stitched across (ā€œ~ Codex binding ~ā€œ) so every page lies flat while you write in it, and in the corner thereā€™s a little tear-off edge so you can always easily go back to where you left off. The pages are a nice thick material and a beautiful cream color. I use it to sketch out ideas, plan my PI recs, keep a schedule, and jot down whateverā€™s on my mind.

the first thing to be said is that this recommendation applies equally to everyone the next thing to be said is that you have, inevitably, been suffering from a cocktail of depression and anxiety for more than a decade, and this has made you incredibly tired what you need is to make NYE plans with a good friend you haven't seen in years; she will bring you out to the club and it will be fuckin rad; you'll buy some cute clothes and she'll do your makeup, despite these not being things you really ever do, and you'll forget how much you typically disdain your appearance for one night next, you're going to have to just read for awhile, books and essays and youtube comments and text messages after enough reading, you'll have your own thoughts and questions, and you'll inevitably see someone else asking the question "am i trans?" reading this question will naturally lead to you asking yourself: "am i trans?" the answer is yes at this point, you have transitioned into a girl, and everything else is just showing off; decide on a new name; get a therapist and a doctor who are supportive; pump your body full of the hormones it needs; get some cute new clothes and burn your old shit; ask for help picking out and doing your makeup stop treating your body like a shipping container for your sad brain; transform it into the hot girl your brain already knows you are
