I was supposed to graduate in 2021, but I was having a *horrible* time for a multitude of reasons. I finally made the call around April to quit for the year and try again in the fall. At the time I felt like a total failure, but now I’m so happy I did that!!! I got to have my studio in-person because restrictions had lifted, I used the extra mental bandwidth to do some soul-searching and find myself, and I ended up with a project that I was passionate about and put my whole heart into! Truly one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself

congratulations! Inspiring to hear about so many wins you found as a result of your decision to hit the brakes.

double the major double the time double the fun… took me nearly 6 years. in these few years I lived through a global pandemic, got diagnosed with ADHD, dyed my hair blonde, red, & black in varying lengths and tones, fell in love, travelled to europe, aligned more deeply with my queerness, moved out of home, and ended my veganism only to end up with celiac disease. I started this degree when I was 17 (late bday) and finished it at 23 with tiramisu and a lot of vodka.
I am very loved and cherished. There’s nothing that made me deserving of the privelage and pace at which I move through the world. I am the first brown woman in my mom’s side/ immediate family to be in her early twenties with no familial or martial burdens to carry. I am so so blessed!! shoutout to my parents for funding this hopeful little artist πŸŽ“

I was nervous because I have two young children who are also homeschooled and I wasn’t sure if I could juggle mom life + homeschool life + remote learning for the year and a half it would take me to complete the degree, but I’m doing it!! The program has changed my life in ways I never even imagined. Set to graduate in May πŸ₯²πŸŽ“
