three standouts for me: ā€˜right place, wrong personā€™ by rm, ā€˜muttā€™ by leon thomas, and ā€˜two star and the dream policeā€™ by mk.gee. amazing experimental albums.

everyoneā€™s (rightfully) loving two star and the dream police. and like i get it, the youngest child usually gets a lot of attention but what about the middle child? as much as iā€™ve played two star into oblivion, a museum of contradiction walked so two star could run. AMOC is the perfect bridge between his debut (which will always have a special place in my heartā€” i also highly suggest if you want something funky to get you moving) and his third album. ā€œovertime (pt. 1)ā€ and ā€œisnā€™t it so convenientā€ will always be notable tracks to meā€” the former for itā€™s catchy, danceable nature and the latter for its honest, vulnerable lyricism and incredibly unique production. another standout, ā€œwesternā€ is a groovy track that tackles existentialism. he tries on a lot of hats here. i think this had just as much going for it as two starā€¦when it was released it felt like it could have served as his big break had the time been right, but thankfully his recent acclaim has made up for it. i highly urge for anyoneā€™s first listen to be in order!

not really a rec but i just watched fantastic mr. fox (2009) and ash and his father are such great representations of the spectrum that is neurodiversity. iā€™m not sure if wes anderson intended to make his characters present characteristics of asd or adhd, but even if he didnā€™t, i felt incredibly impacted by this story, and i know that the neurodiverse community has found solace in this movie for YEARS.
