I have an enduring love of Daphne Du Maurier and Hitchcock, and when the two are combined there's nothing I love more. I actually designed a collection inspired by it in 2018. The birds is also one of the scariest films I've ever seen and Mrs Danvers truly the most terrifying character.Ā Ā

the easiest way to feel like a film student is to drop alfred hitchcockās name, and unironically the birds is my favourite classic film.
itās not just the dread of thousands of angry birds, or the hilarious scene where seagulls attack a childrenās birthday party, but itās the dynamics of character relationships and how the women base their relationships with one another on their relationship with the main male character.
my favourite line to quote is āoh, i seeā¦ā which is said so many times to by characters to silently judge each others decisions and statements.
then, once youāve seen the birds i recommend watching or learning about the 2010 film birdemic: shock and terror, which is this insanely bad but oh so beautiful thing made by a single man inspired by hitchcock.
