My good friend Derek had a coworker back in the day who he said would talk about how when she got home she would have "horizontal time"; just laying down, not sleeping, after work. I look forward to horizontal time every single day.

Every time there is a long holiday break from work or even a night where I don't have much going on, I find myself super anxious, desperately looking for a way to do something productive (write, clean, bake then clean more, workout, do a task I've been putting off). My boyfriend, on the other hand, is realllllly good at RELAXING. Yesterday he spent the whole day in bed watching Tiny Desk on the T.V., drinking tea, reflecting and relaxing. At the end of the day he said it was much needed and then went to bed early. In 2024 I want to be able to do NOTHING and feel good. Like really good, not fake good. Haven't done it yet but I think I would highly recommend it.

after spending the whole day interacting with other people i really like to look forward to when i get off work and i can drive around or just sit in my car in the parking lot. i'll either watch a show on my phone or read a book or listen to music or literally sit in silence. especially helps if you live with roomates or otherwise don't have your own space. i find this is great for me bc i feel like a little hamster in my own isolated ball having my enrichment time which then makes me feel reenergized to be around others. its low energy too if you don't feel like going for a walk but still want to be outside getting fresh air.

There have been times where to fill the void™ that I just work and do everything to not focus on the glaring obvious of an empty house - well empty plus a cat and a dog, but void of a humans touch other than mine. I won't lie, it doesn't go away but! You can learn to live with it. Be sporadic with it; you want to go out at 2 in the morning when everyone is asleep, make the time and do it. You want to try something new, make plans with yourself and do it. Its takes a minute to figure out that doing things for you at your own accord can be just as fulfilling as doing them with others -sometimes- Im a big fan of loosing time then gaining it back which is more or less, do things on a schedule (work/job) then when thats done derail everything and just set free, and not be guilty for 'wasteing time'. Its yours and no one elses while you're alone, you can always make it back up later.
