I was feeling pretty lonely and uninspired after graduating art school. My only saving grace was my independent contracting job with a local artist in Milwaukee named Jill Sebastian. I helped her reclaim and reinstall a piece she designed in partnership with Woodland Pattern at The Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Through this, I learned some history about my city, about the huge network of artists and writers connected to the piece, and the importance and need for Woodland Pattern and Jill’s work in our community.

i have a kind of corporate graphic design job and i haven’t really done a project 4 myself since i graduated so i decided to have a little creativity session w one of my best friends (who is also a graphic designer) and we built a concept for a project we are really excited about 😛 safe to say sometimes we’ve gotta sacrifice our free time of doing nothing to start chasing the things we want out in the world.

…am I currently working two jobs? Yes. The overlap in schedule is minimal but I feel so fulfilled to get to work on these projects. My role is still undefined, but it’s becoming more real every passing day. Just being around some of these creatives, many of whom I’d admired via the internet has been incredible. I submitted a design yesterday and everyone loved it and I blushed. Here’s to working hard so my toddler can one day afford college (or like a really cool house, idk)
