I can't tell you how much this has changed how I see running. I go now not thinking of it as exercise but to socialise. Try running in places you don't know so you get to see new bits of where you live. I think most people think running is harder than it is and most people can run a far way without trying before. Youโ€™re in New York: run to whatever cool new food place youโ€™ve been looking to try. Run the distance, eat something delicious, then take transit home. Increasingly you can increase your one-way distance knowing that thereโ€™s a reward at the end and an easy way home not on your two feet. Also just doable as motivation to explore a certain neighborhood (could even make it more fun by taking transit to a new place and then running). As the summer months approach, though, my favorite type of run is one that ends in ice cream/a smoothie/some other fun thing to cool me down.

Iโ€™ve been a part of run crew culture for more than ten years. We hosted an orienteering event through Good Sport Magazine, and turns out, a bit of running, a bit of walking, a heap of problem solving and teamwork is very good.
