Kind of an insane undertaking and I really don’t know if I’ll see this thru I already know enuf about this show but also it’s such a cool time capsule kinda thing. Might skip some 80s seasons as well. gonna lose my mind when I get to this Eddie Murphy guy everyone’s always talking about, yall hear about this?

That's really cool! I know the Roku channel plays really old SNL episodes. Are you watching it there or on a streaming service? I'm also curious what are your favorite episodes so far and if you notice any differences between then and now (differences you like or are glad they got rid of?)

elliedearest peacock has every single episode and as far as I can tell every musical performance, it’s insane. Well i dont think they have the infamous Steven seagal episode but i could skip that anyway. I feel like over the years they kinda lose the variety show aspect of it which is fine I love everything snl but in the first few seasons they aren’t afraid to do something that isn’t comedic at all. I also love how simple some sketches can be like chevy chase just drooling and being an ambassador for adult droolers everywhere. It’s like something a 15yr old would come up and it’s like a minute long but they manage to get as much out of it as possible. the first Paul Simon episode also comes to mind which is also only the second episode in the show! It’s like 90% music. last thought but I really do not like the weird alien muppets sketches but I dont think that’s controversial in the slightest. While I’m here I’ll also recommend drew goodens YouTube video on snl I think he watches one episode from each season and sums it up pretty well. its fundamentally been the same show for 50 yrs its just the world around it that changes

this show is soooo ridiculous i LOVE it. classic mtv. contestants live big brother style and have to do “70’s” themed challenges and aren’t allowed to use modern tech, and they are all disgusted by 70s style lol. it’s a really great example of how the early 2000s perceived the 70s, and how fashion, decor, and trends get distilled into the kitschiest version of themselves. really been interested in these cycles, i think we’re in the 2020s does 2010s twee/indie does 90s does 60s thing rn. think about all that transmutation! anyways the show is hilarious, i’m due for a rewatch, and it’s all available on youtube.

Decent. I feel like it was probably crazier than that but you still get how chaotic it was that first night. Wild to me that network television is basically obsolete now. I could go on a whole rant about that but imma wrap it up by saying man thank God for SNL. Saved us all from a life of boring television that takes zero chances.

It’s what my basket is for, if it breaks then I’ll just die it’s not that serious. I don’t even have that many eggs to begin with. I grew up in a single-egg-basket-household, who are these people with multiple egg baskets, do they walk among us?

I feel like I’ve picked up so much good music by just instantly downloading an opening act’s album right after their set. Just saw Wishy at baby’s all right last night and they had a band called Plastic open up, tight band & tight name, I’m sold. I feel like too many people skip the opener and I get it it can get tiring but I already know I’m gonna like the headliner lemme get a nice little surprise. this has GOT to be my last music rec for a little bit…
