Easily one of my top shows of all time, 3 seasons of gold - absolutely hilarious. A real BBC comedy but not dry and deadpan like the office but beautiful and reflective.

Mockumentary about some blokes from West London who are stubbornly hanging on to the long-dead (or at least dormant) UK garage scene of the 90s with their pirate radio station, which no one listens to. Very much in the vein of Trailer Park Boys ā€“ mostly silly, ridiculous shenanigans, but with an empathetic core that leads to some really sweet and heartwarming moments. more obvi picks that should be mentioned: Fleabag and The (original) Office!

A British reality show about a gang of hippie archeologists that ran on BBC channel 4 for 20 seasons from 1994 to 2014. In each episode the team is given access to a historical site in Great Britain for 3 days in which they scan the area using ā€œgeo fizzā€ and work on digs which uncover remains and artifacts. Each episode ends with the team having a pint in the local pub. I watch this when Iā€™m tired.

Public broadcast show featuring archaeologists and geophysicists (nerds, lovingly) who have three days do exploratory digs at sites around the UK. They could find an ancient Saxon burial, but usually itā€™s just a lot of talk about digging trenches and finding what may have once been a wall or something lol. Endlessly soothing and thereā€™s hundreds of episodes on YouTube, I dream in time team at this point!! The digs also actually benefited real research teams. They could pick up where the time team left off once a site had been confirmed to be significant (without having to shoulder the cost of the exploratory digs)

Recently added a tape deck to my hifi and have been having a blast making mix tapes. Thereā€™s something therapeutic about writing a track list and getting the recording just right. This mix is all my favourite Tiny Desk performances. Side A is more danceable and Side B is slightly more subdued. Whatā€™s great about recording live sets is you capture the artists chit chatting and the crowd. Perfect for Tiny Desks too as everyone seems to be having a lot of fun. Iā€™ve also got a quick slice of Elmo introducing and closing each side with a few words from Bob Boilen about the impact of music and Tiny Desk.

ā€¦ I walked out to the hill behind our houseĀ  which looks positively Alaskan today,Ā  and it would be easier to explain thisĀ  if I had a picture to show you,Ā  but I was with our young dogĀ  and he was running through the tall grassĀ  like running through the tall grassĀ  is all of life together,Ā  until a bird calls or he finds a beer canĀ  and that thing fills all the space in his head. ā€¦
