I had a nannying job where the family had rented a villa by the sea one year and I drove out there blasting oldies on my car radio. The weather was spectacular and I found a beautiful oval mirror at a charity shop. On the way back I got a speeding fine that was almost exactly the amount I was paid that weekend. Ouch. Still feels great to get in the car and go to the sea.

moving to a city has me longing for a simple errand in a car with no traffic and a nice song playing on the radio. public transportation is great and all…but…

driving is my favorite thing to do. being able to transport yourself at such speeds and such freedom. i understand lots of people do not drive for many reasons (fear, blind/deaf, child, drunk most nights, POTUS), but i do not remember my life before i could drive. how did i get anywhere? i’ll get camera roll “memories” on my phone of myself at a friends house in early highschool. this friend lived like 20 mins away and i was always at her house. who tf drove me there. that sounds awful. i’m not crazy about my car because i think it’s too small. but it’s really no big deal because it drives. i can listen to music and roll my windows down (which i always opt to do despite the weather) and nothing can touch me. its mindless enough to where my mind can wander but im engaged enough to where i am forced to not look at my phone. when im doom scrolling i think to myself, im just gonna drive around instead

Even the cheapest one. There's a $4 carwash near my house and I love randomly deciding to cruise through that sucker. It feels like a little treat and is also good for my car! Incredible.

I’m on the wrong side of 33 and i can tell you with utmost certainty that your 20s is the most chaotic time of your life and it’s amazing that anyone actually gets anything done during them. If you’re a type a planning type personality however I would recommend: - if you’re the sort of person who cares about diet and fitness, establish those routines in your 20s - live where you wanna live. Don’t live somewhere you hate because you think you’ll have more fun later cos you won’t - get a job that makes reliable money that you can tolerate and go back to if your dreams fall through. It doesn’t have to be a dream job it just has to pay the rent and not make you sad - don't smoke cigarettes - use sunscreen - be as cringe as you want. People expect it from you anyway. They won’t have as much patience in your 30s.

Walking into a formal celebration and taking in everyone looking and smelling good. The smell always stays with me the most—cologne, soap, hair product, cigarettes, leather, shoe polish. Everyone so clean and proud and a little bit shy. So special.
