•Once Upon a Time In Hollywood w/ my brother in a theater full of elderly moviegoers who must’ve thought it was like golden age of hollywood kinda movie. we were hollering and hooting @ the home invasion scene. • Interstellar in IMAX yesterday. never seen it before but I found god in that showing. I mean holy fuck. whole theater bawling our eyes out, guys next to me drank half a bottle of svedka it was a ride. •Top Gun: Maverick on acid. brother I was in that movie I met Pete Mitchell he saved my life. •Casablanca on NYE, also on acid. Acid didnt kick in until after the movie tho which was fine cus I initially hated Casablanca when I first watched it but something about seeing it in a theater made me do a complete 180 and I see it as one of the best movies ever made now. •Wild at Heart on Valentine’s Day with my BOYS. No better way to spend my Valentine’s Day. •Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, with my pops. we were the only ones in the theater and he was asking me questions like a dad does but it was actually kinda fun this time. I love da movies.

It’s a given, but I like the rest of the team, love movies. The first one I saw was Scooby Doo, according to my parents. I cried when it got loud so they took me out of the theater. I love my parents. Showing movies to them is a deep pleasure of mine. Just like cooking for them, or getting them that thing they wanted for their birthday. People are surprised when I say this, but I show everything I screen to my family beforehand. They’re the Wizard behind the curtain of my programming. I talk with them about what should go first, and discuss the common themes the shorts I pick share. It makes me a better curator and programmer having my mom, dad, and sister in the room for help.

First, I want to appreciate how most of y’all’s parents seem to be approximately my age! I love being the oldest person in the room. My dad loved Airplane, Murder by Death and Top Gun. And various car-related movies like Grand Prix, Le Mans, Ford vs Ferrari. My loved Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally, Benny & Joon, Juno, various problematic feel-good movies about Black and white people learning lessons, and musicals. I wish she could’ve seen Good Luck to You Leo Grande. She would’ve loved it. She walked out of the movie Cleopatra crying because she hated it so much.

It’s what my basket is for, if it breaks then I’ll just die it’s not that serious. I don’t even have that many eggs to begin with. I grew up in a single-egg-basket-household, who are these people with multiple egg baskets, do they walk among us?

I feel like I’ve picked up so much good music by just instantly downloading an opening act’s album right after their set. Just saw Wishy at baby’s all right last night and they had a band called Plastic open up, tight band & tight name, I’m sold. I feel like too many people skip the opener and I get it it can get tiring but I already know I’m gonna like the headliner lemme get a nice little surprise. this has GOT to be my last music rec for a little bit…
