earl sweatshirt's some rap songs has been the album to really get my creative juices flowing lately while also comforting me during a not-unusual winter depression. it's been part of my life since i was 15, but lately i've felt especially connected to it in my adulthood. it's a moving self-portrait that's complemented so, so well by his 9-minute short nowhere, nobody. you should give it a listen if you haven't already, and if you have, listen closer

i swear that man is the Truth some rap songs and voir dire are masterworks of flow and lyricism and they just sound fucking good. feet of clay is good also but depressing and sick is good too but idk doesnโ€˜t flow as well as those two records. also he had verse of the year on words2liveby by el cousteau. incredible artist

this is is such an upbeat, playful, sometimes silly coming-of-age album. I love de la soul's ability to build a world within their albums. the first time I ever listened to this album, I was vacuuming the house and I felt like I was in a movie lol. I love albums that feel cinematic. this is definitely a body of work that influences my own creativity and storytelling abilities. I love the lore that's woven throughout their work. this album is also a case study in incredible sampling. start ur day tomorrow with this album and I promise you will not regret it !!!
