I kept adding to this all year and what I learned was that I really did not keep up with new releases like I wished I had. Notes for next year I guess but some highlights: - A Taste of Honey is so charming and got me so into kitchen-sink realism for a bit, gave me a deeper understanding of UK subculture/punk that I revere so much but was missing a lot of sociopolitical context on - Hollywood Shuffle is one of my dad’s favorites, very short and silly and sweet and smart. It made me a little emotional to think about how resonant this movie was for my dad when it came out. For those who don’t know the name or recognize Robert Townsend, Ayo’s dad on The Bear! - Watching Elaine Stritch bust her ass on “Ladies Who Lunch” from Company and baby Stephen Sondheim be a genius in real time changed me for the better

This year I recommended people to watch more movies. This year I've watched 336 movies, documenting them on a list. With the intention of not overwhelming you with a big ass post, I put all the movies in this document. Inspired by Edgar Wright's Instagram lists, here's mine, because I love making lists and because I refuse to get a Letterboxd account when I can simply post it all here. Besides, I don't think I care for reviews. I do care however, for data (oh sexy data). In this link, you'll be able to see the statistics about the movies I watched in 2024, from the ones I watched for the first time vs. ones that were rewatches, to films separated by decade, to them being separated by genre, (this year I was a Y2K queen). It's like my own Spotify Wrapped but way more fun 'cause I did it myself and I actually care.

It’s Friday night and I’m off work late with no plans but I felt like being out in the world, even if for a moment. Turns out, a low stakes glass of orange wine tastes great when you’re waiting for a $10 burrito platter from down the street.

I’ve spent so much time scrolling on this app that I’m able to discern some of your writing voices. There are a couple of you who have such a developed voice that I can guess you wrote a post before seeing the attached username. You’re all so observant, introspective, delusional, earnest, anxious, well-rounded, hilarious and loving. Kind of breaks my heart that I’ll likely never meet some of my favorites because we all live everywhere, but I guess that’s why we thank God for the Internet!
