and the wrestler itself. a brutal — yet tender — look at the world of wrestling and one man's attempts to save his life and relationships while preserving his legacy.worth a watch
So special. Nothing else like it. Matt Dillon so dumb and beautiful, Mickey Rourke is like Hamlet. Soundtrack bizarre & Inspired.
like an american art film / anime about knife fights and motorcycles
So pure in its intention and execution it feels holy
3/3 ★★★
Early Mickey Rourke (Body Heat, Diner, Rumble Fish, this) is undefeated. You can’t understand his dialogue but you’re not any worse off for it. Eric Roberts (Julia’s bro) steals the show.
A transcendentalist parable. The Outsiders by way of German Expressionism. Art house for jocks. Matt Dillon is a smoke-show, Mickey Rourke is barely audible. Perfection.
