like 95% of the people who talk shit about modern art don’t even know that nothing made after the 70s even falls into the CATEGORY of modern art! We’re not talking that banana-taped-to-a-wall shit. We’re talking an entire CENTURY of widely diverse and prolific art. If you hate modern art and wanna shit talk it as a whole and understand that you’re including futurism and dadaism and cubism and expressionism and IMPRESSIONISM (while u strut around with your MONET tote bag saying crap like NOW THIS IS THE REAL SHIT), then go right ahead! Nothing wrong with hating modern art but damn at least know what it IS! Like damn can we stop pretending it’s quirky to “only like the classics” already (many of your classics fucking ARE MODERN ART BITCH)! And don’t let me catch u praising shit like Manet, Degas, Renoir, Matisse, Cassatt, Hopper either, because bitch I have bad news for you

i think a lot of people still have this very conservative view of art. sure, drawing, painting, sculpture, and all of those mediums that have been seen as legitimate forms of art for thousands of years, are art. i feel like some people still view those as the ONLY legitimate forms of art. i think most people can agree we have accepted photography as art in the past century. why is our idea of what art can be, so narrow ? performance can be art, social media posting can be art, group blogging can be art, cultivating an affective commons can be art, hanging out can be art. you are no better than those who say a blue square cannot be art.

might be late to the game but art professors can be so wrong about so many things. they don’t know everything they just know what they been taught. being able to come to your conclusions regarding your work or art in general is so important make art to make art. make art to make people feel. don’t get caught in the loop of trying to get a good grade. don’t get caught in the loop of trying to sell something. just make art! (but be open to criticism, it’s a balance) not even trying to be funny but they be pulling shit out their ass just to hate 😭 my design teacher ⬇️

i feel like it’s this constant debate but the thing is? there’s millions of artists/musicians/etc out there, so i find when you want to hold on so tightly to someone, you’re closing yourself off from other artists that could be similar or way cooler but not a terrible person obviously there’s a distinction between a faux pas, mistakes before growth, or being deeply consistently horrible, but i absolutely think that’s a distinction worth making… we only have so much time on this earth, and our time to consume art and music and film and literature is fleeting, so i’d rather spend it on the works of people who have earnestly made the world a more beautiful place and exploring art to find those !

I swear I can plank for unimaginable amounts of time while listening to Fiona Apple I don't know why it works but it works and the rush it gives me is unbeatable

I cannot recommend enough learning how to bake something incredibly well and making it your signature. Bake it once, twice, seven times, learn it well, bring it for your friends, enemies, coworkers—you become a legend. I perfected baklava several years ago and almost every holiday there’s the inevitable request for me to bring some and everyone knows me as the baklava girl and it fills me with so much joy to participate in this exchange of sweets and compliments and I swear it enlivens my ego and awakens my heart and everyone wins and it’s divine
