like street performances or people busking on the subway - all kinds of people with all kinds of instruments and sounds. free live concerts in public spaces too! recently i was in awe of this very talented trio at delancey-essex st who were tap dancing, drumming, and DJing. iāve seen them there more than once and they always look like theyāre having so much fun!! a couple months ago i passed by the big post office across penn station and there was literally a jazz band set up with a few audience seats and everything? it was wonderful. and once in paris, i was walking over the seine and a man was playing the violin so beautifully, and it felt like i was in a movie! i really love music and i love when people perform it in public, it is definitely a reminder that life can be so beautiful

bombay bicycle club in 2014? 2015? was blown away by how much fun they were having and how tight they were
parquet courts a couple years ago were fantastic, so energetic
twin peaks hands-down some of the most fun I've ever had seeing live music
patti smith was iconic she kept spitting on the stage

seeing phil elverum (mount eerie) do a solo show at a church-turned-sex-club-turned-cultural-center was maybe the most magical. the sky was glittering after that
the strokes was a fulfilled childhood dream and julian casablancas is the best frontman/stand-up combo i ever witnessed
four tet in the middle of a forest in bilbao was unreal

janelle monae in 2013(?) and she was electric (pun intended)
remi wolf (supported by dora jar) was a great show, very fun, smiled the whole time
caroline polachek, was the last gig the day before the first lockdowns in 2020 and then i caught covid (so did caroline so my headcancon was that i caught it from her) and saw Sophie in the flesh in the crowd
and the best as of recent was tune-yards, one of the most vibrant, high energy shows with one of the most excited and in-the-moment crowds of any gig i've been too - waited 10 years to see them and they did not disappoint

i had it for a little over a year until i was like wow this is actually terrible! i genuinely think it has negatively impacted society by ruining peopleās attention spans, having a horrific algorithm, and most of all by the most mind-numbing or outright harmful trends -
fake words that people now use IRL (āunaliveā), trad wife tiktok, shein hauls, body-focused fitness vids that encourage fatphobia and unhealthy habits, shallow political/feminist theory and queer discourse, āalpha maleā podcaster tiktok, encouraging overconsumption in general, trends ruining local spots or niche thingsā¦ the list goes on
