i’m not generally big into pop music, but damn is Hemlocke Springs extremely underrated. i know her song ‘girlfriend‘ was viral for a bit a couple years ago, but she’s released new music since and her debut album ‘Going
Going
Gone!’ is genuinely very good. i still find myself listening to it frequently

I feel weirdly sad about L Devine, a great pop artist who has been trying to make it for a while. her EP “near life experience” was one of my favorite pop projects ever, but it didn’t really catch fire back in 2021. since then she’s left her label and seems to be floating around in indie artist purgatory. her latest album still has that awesome songwriting I’ve come to expect, but you can tell she isn’t working with the same resources marketing or production-wise. I just hope she can find her niche someday. anyway, give L Devine some love! even Charli XCX calls herself a fan. my favorite tracks: - “Naked Alone” by INDIIA feat. L Devine - “Girls Like Sex” by L Devine - “Higher” by Wave Racer feat. L Devine - “Priorities” by L Devine - “Push It Down” by L Devine

Girly Pop Nation: rise up 2024 has been an incredible year for pop music. Ngl it’s challenging that Sabrina is so talented and so beautiful- sometimes hard to be happy for her. But the music is so good and she’s so unserious that I can get past it. Early favs: Coincidence Bad Chem Juno Don’t Smile Also Slim Pickins is a nice s/o those of us who’ve been on Hinge. Now we have this song to tether our experience. edit: I’d also like to add that I admire Sabrina’s unapologetic horniness.

1. The Three Caballeros (1945) i’m a big animation nerd, and i truly believe that this is visually one of the most creative and beautiful animated films ever. i know there’s not really much of a “plot,” but i love how anarchical the flow of the movie is, disney has not and will never make anything like it again. the musical sequences/song numbers are so much fun and joaoaqin garay and josĂ© oliveira give amazing performances as panchito and josĂ© carioca 2. Who Framed Roger Rabbit this was my #1 favorite for the longest time, and it’s now a *very* close second. this movie is just the epitome of expertly crafted film making on so many different levels, from the writing, directing, acting, practical effects, and animation. it’s a perfect homage and combination to two of my favorite film eras, old film noir and the golden age of animation. richard william’s animation direction is also mindblowingly brilliant; so many insane shots in this movie that i know were almost impossible to animate. 3. A Clockwork Orange i am aware that this is a starkly different pick from my first two, lmao. but this is genuinely such a fascinating film that speaks to me on so many levels. malcom mcdowell truly gives a performance of a lifetime, and the intentional setting of 60’s/70’s brutalist futurism is genuinely so iconic. obviously kubrick’s direction and camera work is also genius, don’t have much to add there. i don’t necessarily agree with every point this film tried to get across, but the question if even the worst people in our society deserve the autonomy to choose between right and wrong is so fascinating. 4. Amadeus perfect movie from beginning to end in my opinion. it is a master class in character writing, i can never get over how salieri and mozart are THE perfect character foils of eachother. the opera segments in this film are so beautifully shot, designed, and choreographe. this film is responsible for me genuinely falling in love with opera, where i now shoot/film my university’s operas as a consistent favorite gig of mine (and hope to professionally shoot operas as a part of my career in the future).
